How this list of gun safe deals is built

This page is a list of gun safes for sale on Amazon US at a discount. It's built by a rule, not by hand, and the rule is short.

• What's included. Gun safes, handgun safes and gun cabinets we track.
• The condition. Amazon reported a discount of 10% or more on the offer at our last daily check.
• The order. Largest discount first.
• The size. The top 20 by discount.

That's all. There is no editor's pick, no "deal score", and no weighting for brand, popularity or review count. A safe is on this list because Amazon showed a discount of at least 10% when we last looked.

The discount is Amazon's, not ours. It's the savings percentage Amazon reported for the offer, measured against Amazon's own reference price. We don't set that reference price and we don't verify it. We only record the percentage.

We don't publish prices anywhere on the site, including here. The Discount column shows the percentage at our last check. The Check price button shows the current price, and that's the one that counts.

A discount can end at any time

Amazon discounts start and stop without notice. The list is rebuilt from a daily check, so it can be up to a day behind. In practice:

• The discount you see on Amazon may differ from the one in our table, or may be gone.
• A safe can drop off this list tomorrow because its discount ended, or because it went out of stock.
• A safe can join because a new discount started.

If the discount is the reason you're buying, check it on the Amazon page before you order. If the safe is the reason you're buying, the discount is a bonus.

A discount doesn't change what the safe is

Here's the catch with any list of gun safe deals. A safe at 30% off is still exactly the safe it was yesterday. The steel didn't get thicker, and the fire claim didn't get a lab.

At our last check, most rows on this list had no fire claim in writing, and many didn't state a steel gauge. That's not a criticism of the list. It reflects which safes happen to be discounted. Light, unrated safes go on sale too.

So read the rest of each row before the Discount column:

• Fire rating. Minutes, temperature and who tested it. "Rated" names a lab. "Claimed" means the manufacturer says so. A dash means nobody put it in writing.
• Burglary rating. UL RSC under UL 1037, or none.
• Steel gauge. Lower is thicker. Under the U.S. Standard Gauge, 14 gauge is 0.0781 in and 12 gauge is 0.1094 in.
• Lock. Keypad, fingerprint, RFID, dial, key. And the backup.

A large discount on a safe that doesn't fit your guns is not a deal. It's a return.

What to check before buying a discounted gun safe

Discounted or not, a gun safe is a heavy, long-lived purchase. Seven checks, in the order I'd do them:

1. Interior dimensions. Measure your longest gun with its scope. Compare against the interior, not the outside or the gun count. Our gun safe dimensions guide shows how.
2. Ratings in writing. Fire as a three-part line, burglary as UL RSC or none. Our UL safe ratings guide explains each level.
3. Steel gauge. If the listing doesn't state it, ask the seller.
4. Lock and backup. A backup key or override, and a way to power an electronic keypad from outside.
5. Seller and condition. Check who is selling and that the listing is for a new unit. We leave out Renewed listings, but the seller can change on the same product page.
6. Delivery and returns. Large safes usually ship by freight. Curbside and in-home delivery are different services, and returning a heavy safe is a project. Our moving a gun safe guide covers the last few feet.

Handgun safe and gun cabinet deals: smaller box, same checks

The list mixes three kinds of product, because shoppers searching for gun safe deals often mean any of them. They are different products, and a discount doesn't blur the line.

Gun safes are tall steel containers for long guns. The checks above apply in full: ratings, gauge, interior, lock, delivery and anchoring.

Handgun safes are small boxes built around a quick-access lock. For these, the lock is the product. Check the backup key, where the battery lives, and the interior height against your pistol with any light or optic. A security cable or pre-drilled holes matter more than the weight. Gun cabinets are light steel lockers. They keep firearms locked away from people in the household who shouldn't have them, and they usually have no fire or burglary rating. A cabinet at a discount is still a cabinet. Our gun safe vs gun cabinet guide covers the difference.

If children live in or visit the home, whichever you buy should stay locked whenever the firearms are not in your hands. Keep the backup key and code where a child cannot find them.

Gun safe Black Friday deals: same rule, same check

Gun safe Black Friday sales and holiday events don't change how this page works. The rule stays the same: 10% or more at our last daily check, sorted by discount. During a sale event, more safes may pass the rule, and discounts may change more often.

We don't predict sales and we don't have data showing that any month is reliably cheaper for gun safes. If you're waiting for Black Friday, use the time well: measure the space, decide which ratings you want in writing, and pick two or three models that fit. Then a discount on one of them is easy to recognise.

Gun safe clearance and "sale" in the title

Some listings put "sale" or "clearance" in the product title. That isn't a discount in our data. A safe appears on this list only if Amazon reported a savings percentage on the offer itself. A title that says "sale" with no reported discount stays off.

What this list leaves out, and why

• Discounts under 10%. They exist; they don't pass the rule.
• Home safes, document safes and lock boxes. This page covers gun safes, handgun safes and gun cabinets only.
• Renewed listings. We don't list them anywhere on the site.
• Amazon's own brands. Not listed anywhere on the site.
• Safes not available on Amazon US at our last check.

Who should look elsewhere
